Jesus said, "How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing." Luke 13:34

O Father, forgive me for not being willing. I've been too self-sufficient in my past and I've made a big mess of things by trying to do it all myself. Teach me, O Lord, how to be as a little child again . . . trusting You to take care of my needs and problems . . . coming to You, my "Daddy," with my broken toys, my broken life, for You to fix and mend with Your tender loving care.

O help me be as a baby chick, eager to run to Your side and nest in the protective shelter of Your wings.

Thank You, dear Lord, for that shelter I so desperately need from the raging storms of life. Thank You for Your always-present protection in the midst of the trials and torrents of this world.

Remind me to be Your child . . . teach me how to be Your small chick.
