Dear Lord . . . I just sometimes wonder what it’s all about. What should I actually be doing with my life? How do I make a difference?
Should I make a difference?

Do I make a difference?

I’m not really confused, but often times I am bewildered by it all. What am I doing, as a pastor’s wife, that matters? I clean the house and cook the food; I run the errands, do the shopping and tend to the children . . . so my husband can spend more time with You, Lord, and in ministering to others. But what do I actually do that’s so important? Some days I just feel like a housekeeper, a maid, a cook, a taxi-driver and a baby-sitter. Is this all there is, Lord?

(I'm sure other wives have asked the same questions, yes?)

AND THEN HE ANSWERED:

"Oh, My child, your worth is far beyond precious rubies and gold. Your ‘job’ of wife and mother is the highest, most noble position of womanhood . . . for it’s why I created you: woman . . . to be a help mate to your husband. Be content in doing this, your part. Be humbly proud of your God-created position. Love your husband, teach your children, clean your house as unto the Lord. I am with you each step of the way and I am with you every step of your day.

I am with you as you wash the dishes, buy the groceries, cook the supper, bathe the children and as you snuggle in bed at night next to your husband. Talk with Me as you wash the dishes. Tell Me what’s on your mind or what you see out the window . . . for I long to know. Remember, I’m in the passenger’s seat with you as you drive to the store. Ask Me for a parking space up close or for a good bargain in the cereal aisle....  for I want to give you these things. Sing praise songs to Me or share with Me the concerns of your day as you prepare supper and thank Me for the food you are cooking . . . for I desire your praise and thanksgiving. Share your thoughts and beliefs about Me with your children as you lather them in the tub and dress them for bed, and listen as they talk to you about their day . . . for I wish you to give special attention to each child every day; they are very precious in My sight. Your life will show them more about Me than any other single thing as they are growing up. And as you snuggle next to your husband at night, remember, you are snuggling up to Me, also. I will love you through your spouse and it will be truly wonderful.

When your husband smiles at you from across the room . . . that’s me smiling at you, for you are so lovely; I delight in you. When your child brings you a bouquet of wildflowers or weeds and gives it to you along with his unconditional love . . . that’s Me sending you flowers from the Childhood Express Florist. When a neighbor offers a cup of tea and a listening ear . . . that’s Me encouraging you to stop, to slow down, to share. Open your eyes and ears to the wonder of My world . . . and you won’t have to wonder too much about your role in your world.

You see My child, My dear darling daughter . . . every hat you wear: wife, mother, maid, cook, taxi-driver, counselor, physician, lover and so many more, each one I have created especially for you, so wear them all with pride. But remember that the most important ‘job’ you will ever have is that of being My child, My daughter, My loved one.

Be happy and content with who you are . . . and be blessed by Whose you are . . . for what you do for the least of these (even family) -- you’ve done it unto Me . . . "
